[Tsukishima nods and steps in, taking off the shoes and the jacket. He didn't have anything else with him besides is headphones, so he makes quick work of removing the unnecessary stuff.]

What's wrong with your stomach? Did you eat something bad? You look like train-wreck.

[He's brutally honest and rather curious. Yamaguchi pays attention to what he eats, his mother is good cook too, and at school they eat together so... this is a puzzle. He doesn't like seeing Yamaguchi in pain. His mood doesn't seem to have suffered because of it so that's a good thing.]

[tsukkinice]

Urgh, Yeah. I ate something bad last night....

And...well, I-I was drinking too...so...

[Yamaguchi hesitates and speaks in a softer voice for the second part, afraid (however irrationally) that Tsukishima might think less of him for drinking. Even though half their team probably does by now every once in a while, Tsukki included.]

[tsooki]

You were drinking?

[Tsukishima sounds more surprised than reprimanding. He usually doesn't drink alone and bugs Tsukishima to come over to drink with him and just hang out. Or maybe that's just him thinking that... He wants to ask if he was drinking with someone, because he's curious (and it's bugging him for some unknown reason) but that would seem as if he's prying and he's not and he's not Hinata and he will not ask. Directly.]

[tsukkinice]

Y-Yeah... [Yamaguchi doesn't offer anything else up yet, less because he wants to hide the truth from Tsukishima as that it's cringingly difficult and awkward to bring up who was with him last night without any context. Yamaguchi hasn't been texting Oikawa much longer than a couple of weeks, hardly long enough for the younger boy to usually invite someone over to his house even as a friend.]

...Um...you hungry yet, Tsukki?

[tsooki]

[Yamaguchi's hiding something, and it's as obvious as day. Even simpleton like Hinata would be able to tell from all this fidgeting and stuttering that's going on. Yamaguchi doesn't stutter. He yelled at him back at training camp and at school it ranges from normal to excited talk. But never this.

He... wouldn't hide anything important from him, would he? They had that heart-to-heart the other week but.. maybe Yamaguchi thinks he wasn't serious. Even though Tsukishima never jokes.

He nods and heads towards the kitchen (he's been over million times), this nagging feeling scraping on back of his head.]

Sure if you're hungry. Does it need heating up?

[tsukkinice]

Mm, probably not...? Unless you want your soup really hot today. It's corn potage, kaasan left it on the stove.

[Homemade, thankfully, or at least embellished from the packet recipe with other meat and vegetables.]

[tsooki]

Oh, then let's just set up the table.

[Yamaguchi, please take control in your own house. He feels as if he's ordering him around even now.]

[tsukkinice]

[Old habits die hard.]

Sure, Tsukki! You can go sit if you want, I'll bring you some.

[tsooki]

[Especially if those habits are bad habits.]

Alright.

[He sits down at the table and cracks his neck, then turns around to watch Yamaguchi work around the kitchen.]

[tsukkinice]

[Well, for being sick, Yamaguchi's not moving around the kitchen too badly. He's careful not to breathe in any scent of the corn soup, though, despite the fact that it smells delicious. He's afraid of something setting off his stomach while it's still acting delicate.]

Here ya go, Tsukki! [Yamaguchi sets the bowl down for Tsukishima first, much larger than his own, or rather regular-size. Yamaguchi's is a smaller portion to test the waters.] You want something to drink with that?

[tsooki]

No, I'm fine for now.

[The soup both looks and smells deliciously and Tsukishima eagerly starts eating. He loves Mrs. Yamaguchi's cooking, sometimes even more than cooking of his own mom. After several bites, he looks up from the food and gives Yamaguchi a serious look.]

Now that we sat down, start telling me what's bothering you. You seem restless.

[Was it about the last time and what he told him? The concern about him is bigger than the protesting signals his head is sending.]

[tsukkinice]

[Yamaguchi stiffens, not quite imperceptibly. His expression looks suddenly guilt-stricken, but he tries to smile. He has no reason to lie to Tsukishima about this, why does he feel like suddenly trying to hide?]

Ah. [He fidgets, spoon chinking absently against the side of his soup bowl a couple of times.] …Um. This is gonna seem really weird, but…I'm kinda friends with Oikawa Tooru now, Tsukki? …He's been texting me a lot, so…

[tsooki]

[Tsukishima almost drops the spoon in the bowl- he was so close from splattering the food all over his clothes. He can feel his stomach drop heavily and dread crawls back up his spine. This...]

Why is he texting you? Isn't he our rival? [He wanted to say 'enemy' but he'd be probably reprimanded. Why does he have interest in Yamaguchi all of a sudden?]

[tsukkinice]

I was confused at first, but… [But, he's disarmingly charismatic, which Yamaguchi should have seen coming a mile away but didn't. He was too busy caught up being angry with the older setter on principle that he hardly noticed when he started to be taken in instead.] I mean, he's actually pretty nice when you get to know him!

[tsooki]

His niceness is pretty fake. [For some reason Tsukishima can feel annoyance gradually raising in him. And he can't find a probable reason why. A thought about how Yamaguchi needed someone to be nice to him crossed his mind, but Yamaguchi wouldn't ask for pretend niceness... right?

...Tsukishima lays the spoon down as the questions (necessary and unnecessary) start piling up in his head. Was this his fault? He can feel wave of nausea climbing up to his throat as he takes deep breath.]

What does he want from you? [He tries to sound not bothered and ignore the lump of guilt that keeps growing in his throat.]

[tsukkinice]

[Yamaguchi isn't surprised in the least by Tsukishima's lack of goodwill, which is probably why he doesn't notice anything there's else amiss with his friend—yet.]

'Want?'

Ah. Uhm– [oh crap oh crap, how does he convince Tsukishima that Oikawa's only interested in being friends when even Yamaguchi isn't sure that's the case going by all his little and not-so-little insinuations…] –W-Well, I mean, about his niceness, that's what I thought too!! But it turns out that's really just kinda how his personality is…!

[tsooki]

[Yamaguchi is rather bad at avoiding the subject. He ignores what he babbles aboput Oikawa's personality (for now) and folds his arms over his chest.]

Yes. Wants. We never spent time with him or his team, not even when we had practice games, so talking to him out of the practice seems a bit off. [Unless... Yamaguchi's been spending time with him. On his own will. And didn't tell Tsukishima. Not that he needed but he's... not used to it because Yamaguchi always tells him about unimportant stuff so Tsukishima guessed that he'd never leave out important stuff.

It seems he was wrong. Wrong on so many levels.]

Oh. [Yamaguchi drops his gaze, eyes fixating down toward his bowl on the table to avoid directly meeting Tsukishima's.] …About that…

This probably seems really random, but…Oikawa-san was actually here last night, with me. He came over to hang out…

[...that... just made him feel nauseated for some reason and the same way one can feel blush climb up to their face, Tsukishima could feel all the color drain from his right now. He doesn't feel hungry anymore and his brain is trying to comb through reasons as to why would Oikawa come over and find answer before he embarrasses himself with outburst of questions. He wants to ask 'why' but then... it feels as if it isn't his place to ask about it, because Yamaguchi never butts in his business and when he rarely does, Tsukishima's... never nice. So mouth he opened to ask a question he closes and looks away.]

[tsukkinice]

[Well, that's definitely worrying. Once Yamaguchi glances up, and sees Tsukishima suddenly pale-faced and looking nearly as sick as Yamaguchi feels, the latter's concern quickly supersedes any embarrassment he feels about Oikawa spending the night. Is Tsukki mad at him? Is he sick??]

Tsukki?! What's wrong?

[tsooki]

[Everything's wrong. This whole situation is wrong- this is not what he expected to happen after... the 'moment' he and Yamaguchi shared last time. Oikawa visiting Yamaguchi on his own will, randomly? There's noting normal about it. Tsukishima can feel his chest constrict at the mere thought of Yamaguchi with Oikawa.]

Nothing.

[He has to get out of here. He gets up.]

I have to go.

[Now. Before he does something stupid and ruin everything that exists between them. Because of some dreamy assumptions he made that there was something else between him and Yamaguchi. They will remain just that...dreams.]

[tsukkinice]

Eh?! But, Tsukki—you just got here…!! [Yamaguchi's now visibly distressed for the first time since Tsukishima walked in the door, jumping up from the table and nearly tripping in his haste to follow Tsukishima.

What's the matter? Why's he acting like this? But Yamaguchi knows and oh, crap, it's just got to have something to do with Oikawa being here, but…

But Yamaguchi didn't even tell Tsukishima yet the part he'd really been dreading to share: that Oikawa helped take care of him last night, when Yamaguchi was sick from fast food and too much alcohol. Tsukishima made it clear the other day at his house he wanted to be the one Yamaguchi could rely on, but he'd been busy last night and Yamaguchi couldn't call him and—Yamaguchi was hoping he could explain, after the fact, that he hadn't texted Oikawa looking to him as a replacement best friend or anything crazy like that. But there's no way he can bring any of that up now, if Tsukishima's reacting so badly just to Oikawa coming to visit.

And…And maybe kissing Yamaguchi on the forehead, once, but he's definitely not about to bring that up either.]

[tsooki]

[He wanted to blurt out that he's not feeling well, but then Yamaguchi would start panicking even more clingy and demanding for him to stay here. But this is making him feel really, really weird. In a bad way.]

...I need fresh air.

[Fresh air to clear up his mind]

...My mind keeps getting random, ridiculous ideas as to why that guy was coming here, and none of them are good. I'll be back in a moment.

[He says that as he steps out of the room. He made a promise to himself he'd be more open with Yamaguchi and stop with all of the evasiveness. While he's not good at it YET, he's trying.]
