[bikeshorts]

[ Kris liked to be prepared. She made sure to always stock up on supplies whenever she came to a town or city, and she chatted away with the shop keepers and locals to get whatever info she could about the surrounding area and what to watch out for. Her map too got regular use, as well as the new channels on her pokégear.

Unfortunately, neither of those things could help her when she was lost deep inside a cave. Well, she didn't know if she was exactly lost--but the tunnel wasn't lacking in paths that led to dead ends, and each step forward only gave her more to unwillingly explore.

It was frustrating, admittedly. A complete pain, but there was nothing she and Flaaffy could do about it but keep going on.

Now, what's down this tunnel...? ]

[bullion]

[What's in the cave? Why, a frustrated, angry boy, growling at no one in the aloneness of the dark; what else.]

...Humph! Stupid piece of junk. [STOMP, STOMP. We are crunching something plastic-sounding under our feet.] It broke in only a few hours? What a total waste!

[not that...he actually paid for it...]

[bikeshorts]

[ She and Flaaffy stop for just a moment at the sounds ahead that echo their way. Pokémon? she thinks at first, but there's a voice, one more human than inhuman. A person? A person wouldn't be so bad, especially the hikers more used to these routes.

Kris gives a short hum for the pokémon to follow her --standing around and wondering was a waste when they could just go and see-- and it lifts its tail up higher to spread the light, curving as they turn the corner and --

OH BOY, KRIS'S FAVOURITE PERSON.

Or -- an oddity. A rude, rude, oddity. Kris's steps slow once again, and while she hesitates to speak up momentarily (why bother, with this boy), but- ]

Silver?

[ What did he sound so angry about? ]

[bullion]

What? Who's there?

[–oh, wait. he knows that voice.] ...Oh, it's you. I thought I told you to stay out of my way!

[bikeshorts]

I'm just exploring, that's all. [ A small frown comes upon her face - it wasn't like she was there specifically because of him. Even so, she's still taking a few more steps towards him. ] But you're going to attract zubats if you keep making so much noise. What are you doing, anyway?

[ A little worthless to ask, sure, but hey, who knows. ]

[bullion]

[That's actually how he caught his first zubat, but there's no way Silver's admitting that to her face.]

...Nothing...this stupid Pokégear is broken, so I'm getting rid of it! [stomping once more, FOR EMPHASIS]

[bikeshorts]

What? [ Her brows knit, and sorry whatever radius is a No Kris Zone, Kris is now inside it - with Flaaffy - to try and see the remnants of a poor piece of technology. ]

It's going to be broken if you smash it under your foot! Don't you know you can get them fixed? All you had to do is wait and take it to be checked out!

[bullion]

[Not expecting her to get so close, Silver starts a little and is about to reach up his hands to shove her away when the words sink in. He looks genuinely surprised to hear it, strange as it seems.]

... ...What? Fix it? [But...how?] That's just a waste of time! If it broke once it's going to break again. It's worthless.

[bikeshorts]

[ didn't your mom ever tell you not to shove. But don't worry, she won't get right in his face. ]

That all depends on why it's broken. My pokégear's been damaged before, but it's been working ever since I got it fixed a few months ago. Faults happen. Some problems can be easy to fix.

[ She looks down to the pokégear under Silver's foot. ]

But it's too late for that now.

[bullion]

[Silver scowls as though Kris has gone on the offensive anyway. He stubbornly folds his arms across his chest, as though to form a wall between them.]

I got it a few hours ago and was using the card that shows you the map. It started beeping sometimes when I wasn't doing anything, and then the screen went out.

[...you know, exactly like any phone will do, when you try to use it all day without charging it first.]

[bikeshorts]

[ Well, that could be a few things, but... ]

Beeping.. was it like beepbeepbeep in quick succession?

What? You know what that means?

[bikeshorts]

I think so... and there was a red light?

Yeah...

How did you know about that?

Because [ she begins to smile, but stops herself because she really shouldn't find this funny ] that's what my pokégear does when it's running out of power.

[bullion]

Running out? Then there's no point trying to fix it, anyway! [The stupid thing didn't look that old when he swiped it from another trainer, but Silver doesn't know anything about trainer gear.]

[bikeshorts]

A charger should have come with it! Didn't you read the instructions? [ kris please remember who you are speaking to. ]

[bullion]

...A charger? [Like a battery? Or a plug, or an electric-type pokémon, or–I] I don't get what you're saying.

[bikeshorts]

[ come on... ]

It's what you use to connect your pokégear to a power source? It's about this big [ she makes a fist with her hand ] with a plug on the end, and then a wire. You can use the sockets at pokémon centres to recharge your gear.

You should have had one come in the box.

[bullion]

I knew that! [no, he didn't; but now that she's brought it up he does remember what Kris is talking about.] I don't have one for this, though, so it's a waste to keep it around!
