He tucks his hands into his pockets and smiles as he steps alongside Yamaguchi.]
That sounds like a bother, was it your boss?
[He doesn't expect Yamaguchi to recognise him, apart from as a pretty face - he could easily be another law student going home for the night but for his lack of text books.]
no subject
? ??
[Yamaguchi startles, and actually jumps back half a meter from Oikawa—not because the younger man actually recognized who he is, but because of the sensitive material being discussed over the phone not moments before. Yamaguchi was talking in code, but people's real names were mentioned so it's still far from good for him be overheard. His voice comes out angry and panicked, though he'd like to imagine it's more the former.]
H...Hey! Were you listening to me just now!?
no subject
Not really, I mostly wanted a reason to talk to you. [He quirks the edge of his smile up.] And what better to do that than commiseration over bosses?
no subject
In fact, Yamaguchi's worried enough by now that the 'wanted a reason to talk to you' bit flies right over his head. And, in the next moment, he's back to accusation again.] Wh-What about 'em? Huh!?
no subject
They're always making you work long hours and docking your pay for taking pens?
[Oikawa thinks that's the kind of complaints menial workers make. And he needs to do some damage control and fast or Yamaguchi might explode. And his suit's too nice to get Yamaguchi on it.]
no subject
Sir...umm...was there something you wanted to say to me specifically...? I don't really think I've seen you around here before.
no subject
I'm new! I was actually hoping you might show me around the campus, some stuff came up and I had to switch schools. I'm just glad the law curriculum isn't that different between universities.
[He's hoping that's either true or Yamaguchi doesn't know that it's not.]
But if that was your job then I'm guessing you're busy? [He sighs.] That would be a pity, I was hoping someone cute would be able to show me around. [Which he figures can answer the "why him" part of Yamaguchi's question.]
[1/2]
'Kay, then. My name is Yamaguchi. So you're a transfer, huh...? Are you undergrad or grad school? I'm gonna be pretty busy after this, sorry. But I probably can find somebody else that'll be able to–
[2/2]
[...wait, what?]
no subject
Yamaguchi-kun?
[If Sawamura finds out he broke his new guy Oikawa is so fucked. He's heard the guy takes these things personally.]
no subject
[He doesn't sound angry, more like sort of shocked and disbelieving. As if Oikawa had claimed Yamaguchi was some kind of alien, instead of 'cute.']
no subject
That I wanted you to show me around?
no subject
R-Right...ah... [where was he going with that train of thought again? He...ought to find someone in the law building to send this guy along to, probably...]
no subject
[He doesn't know whether it would count towards the number of people he's killed if Yamaguchi dies of embarrassment.]
no subject
?? Wha–? [Yamaguchi's face is heating up, and not in a pleasant way, even though this stranger is admittedly friendly and kind of handsome himself. Yamaguchi's almost sure this has to be some kind of misunderstanding, or else a weird and unwelcome prank at his expense. Or, worse, knowing his line of work. He knows that he isn't cute at all, not remotely, so why is this guy saying so with a straight face unless he's trying to get something out of him?]
Wh...What's with you? [Er. Wait. That came out wrong–] ...I-I mean—WHO are you?
no subject
[He pauses, smiles. It's okay, kid. He's not going to hurt you unless you really fuck up.]
Undergrad, by the way - You asked before?
no subject
no subject
You're completely sure you can't?
[He perks up and fishes his phone out of his pocket.]
At least let me get your number, that way I can make up for bothering you like this some time. [Unsubtle, perhaps but "Sakeguchi" could just be that kind of guy.]
no subject
Oh! Wait, that's, I mean, you really don't have to make anything up to me, Sakeguchi-san... [maybe he is just some confused guy trying to be nice]
no subject
That wasn't really the reason I wanted your number, Yamaguchi-kun. You don't do this often, do you?
no subject
[Is he—no. No way. People don't...don't ask that sort of thing, not to Yamaguchi—it happens to other people. It happens to Tsukishima.]
What...um...what do you mean, Sakeguchi-san! D-Do what?
no subject
Give cute boys your number so they can call you for dinner.
no subject
Yamaguchi's face goes heated and flushes splotchy red down his neck in record time. So you can enjoy his wordless flailing and incomprehensible noises at your own discretion, until he remembers how to properly form words, Oikawa.]
no subject
Yamaguchi-kun are you feeling okay?
no subject
Sorry! S-Sorry, I'm fine...!
[Or, make that embarrassed, intimidated, anxious, frankly a little scared and...hopeful? Yep, hopeful. And it's such an out-of-place feeling that Yamaguchi nearly doesn't recognize it, through all the negative knee-jerk emotions underneath he feels at being caught like this when he wasn't expecting it. But...is this guy actually asking him out, out of the blue, without knowing Yamaguchi at all? Just because he wanted to? That's never happened to him before; he didn't think at any point it ever would.]

place your bets which karasuno member catches them hanging out first
fingers crossed for asahi, tanaka or noya, they're the only ones a love story would persuade
first they gotta get through that awk moment of 'holy shyamalan twist he was oikawa THE WHOLE TIME!'
and also prevent oikawa from running the hell away as they try and explain who the hell he is
